刚看了星期二特写，感触很深。

以前的游乐场、玩具现在都经历了或面临改革的命运。

曾经常见的带有沙的游乐场也只剩下少于十个了。

传统较便宜简单的玩具与自制玩具在电子玩具日趋受欢迎的趋势下，面临市场缩小与被淘汰的危机。

特写找来了过去设计这些游乐场的设计师与传统玩具店老店主，还有上一代的人士们。

前者是让很多人拥有美丽童年的功臣，然而现在却遭受新一代的人遗忘。

为何过去的事物会沦为过去？难道人们找不到、也看不到他们/它们的意义了吗？

后者也谈及到了以前的人比较懂得珍惜。

好可惜啊，若大家都将这一切遗忘、将很多事物都视为理所当然的话。。。

我很幸运。我的童年拥有这一切。

there's always a story behind a character because he/she is different from expectations, or rather special, thus sadly, mistaken.

johnny from the outsiders: poor, lacks education opportunity, comes from a broken family, sticks with his gang of greasers, thus ppl see/label him as a delinquent. but others do not see his side of loyalty, gentleness, courage, willingness to learn, and that greasers is in fact like his family providing the affection he lacks. class differences created all these labels between the delinquent greasers vs classy socs, and sadly, being in the former means carrying the label despite each member being different and nice in his own way.

kitou aya from one litre of tears: smart, sporty, yet due to a rare illness, her healthy mind was trapped in a deteriorating physical body. ppl see her as disabled, even doubting her mental capacities as they do not understand her illness. she is known due to the drama/her book and ppl show understanding/sympathy to her and her character. but in real life, life is still very much cruel as such stories are happening day by day, silently, and ppl tend to forget when it is less romanticised by the effect of reality.

peter houghton from nineteen minutes: a gentle, loyal friend in his own different ways, yet as he is seen to deviate from his adolescent peers' expectations, he is an outcast and bullied by peers. in turn, a tragedy occurred as he decided to take charge by shooting.

snape from hp: a great loyal man whose rather cold personality hides his inner virtues. bullied when he was young as he was again, labelled as weird or different. mistaken yet never explains himself, for his greater ideal of love and loyalty.

there are still many many characters in the stories i've read that i did not list out. and also, not forgetting real life ppl who are struggling everyday being different from the 'normal' expectations. just because ppl judge and how the society works, they need to struggle more than some other 'normal' ppl. they have to make extra effort to get past the extra labels that others impose on them.

i guess that is why while everyone has a story, stories of these 'different' ppl touch ppl more. because we know that deep in our hearts, how the world is unfair in some sense and we empathise with such 'differences'. yet the problem is, in our daily lives, most of us forget that as we go along with societal expectations, not having the courage to be different and judging others by the same set of lens. it's sad, isn't it?

so, who can ever say what's black/white without knowing everyone's story? just by being different as how other ppl see/say, doesnt mean that the person shld live a life worse than 'normal' or whatsoever. nobody shld ever deprive anyone of his/her rights to live a 'normal' life just because he/she is poor, disabled, of a different race, gender, personality, preference or any other measures.

because aren't differences normal?

because at the end of the day, who is to measure whether one is different or not, and by what basis? a blue line vs a pink line. who is to judge which one is different? as my sexuality prof once said: "human beings are like crayons of different types, sizes and colours, and the most important thing is, they live in the same crayon box." it is because of their differences, that make the world colourful, and human, isn't it?

i'm glad this election got me to know more about mr chiam, a really great man, though i wished i could have known more about him earlier. can kui to say that my knowledge of him before this election was limited to the opposition party mp of potong pasir and that was all :(

this first week of holiday so far, the proudest thing i've done is to attend SPP rally at bishan stadium on monday alone (i told my mom last min and she didnt fancy the idea. my bro called at 10pm to ask if i landed myself in the police stn lol. it's quite a sad thing too ar).

anyway, i went cos i've been catching the past few rallies of SPP and thought i needed to experience it myself, and catch a glimpse of my new hero, and i got to. and he said he loves us :) the quotes i got from his rallies are deeply etched in my mind.

You give me more applause than I deserve.
I'm not a brave man. But I love Singapore and Singaporeans.

he's a true hero.

SPP - i like how they thanked all their 劳苦功高的工作人员. too bad i wasnt tall and fast enough to capture the part.

it doesnt feel like 2009 is going to be gone. or 2009 doesnt seem like it has been a year. time seemed to pass before you realise it. still, in 2009, i've learnt more about life, the society and people around. and i'm thankful :)

hoohoo today's finally an offday after 8 consecutive days of work.
btw im working as a banquet waitress with zhiyin.
the pay kinda sucks (5 bucks) but well well we've just broken the 150 hrs mark and got a pay rise of 50 cents per hr. not bad la ar.
the hotel im frequently working in is gonna go thru renovation from 6 july so tmr's like the last day in the usual familiar envt.
i like the hotel cos the people are nice, the kitchen floor is much less slippery and it's much easier to chase after the last train if my shift ends earlier arnd 11.30 plus.
but im usually working ot and my bedtime is now between 5-7am -__-
nowadays my day starts off arnd 12pm and it's like off to work. rocks ar. kinda no life. but im gonna miss that hotel's envt and im missing the previous staffs alr :(

oh ya havent mentioned i kinda have no tian fen in being an efficient waitress cos im quite slow and guimao :S gulps. but hope im improving :p
really must thank my great partners and those who help me out :) many are real fast, efficient and damn xiao sa.

it was the ushering for the barney show! :) feels real great seeing how the performers and even the crew really get high and make the kids and everyone so happy and excited!
the songs, the spirit makes me wanna be one of the mascot(?)/character. super cool.

fireman sam and naughty norman(?), fifi and the bumblebee (my fav character! fifi: what's yellow and lives in the air? the bumblebee: is it me? super kawaii!), pingu, bob the builder and wendy and the scarecrow plus the pass arnd colourful balls that made everyone real high, angelina ballerina (ruoyi's fav cos really super graceful tho she prefers her w/o her head :p) and her friend, barney and friends, and of cos the band members. wooh clap clap for them!

offday today. was thinking over stuffs. like how lousy i am as a person.
went jogging alone today and was sorting the stuffs in my head. guess it distracted me from the fact that i was jogging so i didnt really feel tired and breathless after the run like how i usually felt (like dying sometimes haha). ran 3.2km (ps: at my slowpoke pace) and stopped cos it was getting dark.
it was amazing how jogging made me feel better in the end :)

this month i've been real stressed up over deadlines.

this week was wah draining man. after thurs 5pm finally 松了一口气。
thurs night celebrated huichan's bday with ahmazu and it was fun fun.

fri had last hiphop class and tcher was funny so damn fun too.
not that stressed cos tcher was back to his usual good mood.

then was eating slacking alot this weekend yay.

and it's day 16 and the final day :( of beijing olympics.
i'm rather sad about this.
the whole of olympics is amazing.
like how often will you see the whole world gather tgther as one? with the same dream and goal? and celebrating achievements for their own country, for the spirit of sportsmanship?
many of the events were really awesome.
and the honour shall not only go to the top 3 of each event. but to every athlete who worked so hard for his/her own olympic dream.

okay, shall stop the 'emo' part.

just a while ago, i watched the live telecast of the men's bball gold medal match between spain and usa. and seriously. it was super exciting. my heart skipped alot of beats i think. final result was 107-118 (spain to usa).
i was supporting spain, cos spain really put on a great fight against usa, the world champ i think with so many nba star players.
the point gap was like so close at times, esp during the 4th quarter.
the 3-point shots by both teams are like wow.
dwayne wade was so cool, like in top form seriously. the 3point shots, steals and blah blah were all so good. he's like the star (in my opinion HAHA) of this match.
there's this 17 year old ricky rubio from spain. so young but goood.
and spain had the gasol brothers on. both nba players too wow.
spain had a couple of assists (助攻 i mean) which was damn power man.
okay all in all it was really damn exciting.
spain and america reminds me of singapore studies man.

now i boliao agn, random write events i wanna write about yep :p

gymnastics: shawn johnson got gold while nastia liukin got silver for the beam event! wow gold for both alr! so cool!

the 50km walk (or run): 50km sia. they say it's like walking from tuas to changi and within 3hrs and 30mins? siao man. (i shld try out someday man. any friend interested contact me HAHA.) i think the top 3 really really damn power. the gold italian guy and silver australian guy were damn cute when they were like running into the stadium haha.

running: usain bolt 3 golds alr. all 3 world records if im not wrong. fast like siao. and he's like funny too. haha with all his actions. jamaicans are good at running man. there's one women's sprint event with top 3 from jamaica. wow. americans are good at running too. 2 golds ytday for men's and women's 4x100 relay. wow.

swimming events are like long long time ago. though only ended like last sun. so sad this whole week dont have any swimming events. but lucky still got some diving, synchronised swimming and water polo events etc. :)

bmx cycling (the short distance one): so dangerous. the collisions omg.

boxing: i nv know how it works, like where they hit to score. and kinda violent.

weightlifting: the scariest of all to me.

so sad. like next time the stadiums and the water cube places wouldnt see so many people from all over the world like in these 16 days.
and we have to wait for another 4 years to experience such excitement. the athletes too, have to wait another 4 years and prepare hard to earn the chance to gain honour for their countries and for themselves.
JIAYOU ATHLETES! yall rock!
i'll miss the olympics man. and the 11pm today in beijing. :(

it's 7pm now oh shit. i'm on this for so long HAHA!
i need to rush to watch the final 'today in beijing'.
and then the closing ceremony of bejing olympics.
they say leona lewis (WOAH) and david beckham will be there!

so far, i like watching the gymnastics, bball, running and swimming events most!
damn nice! damn exciting!

the gymnastics girls are so goood! i was wow'ed by the usa girls. nastia liukins and shawn johnson esp. they were so focused and they were amazing! and johnson's so young, only sixteen! omg. she's like really so focused in all the rounds. and the moment she'd done her stunts so beautifully which earned her high points, she got this great smile and somehow i guess everyone can feel her happiness too. amazing. america must be proud of these girls. and oh, liukins got gold and johnson silver. wooooh!

for running, usain bolt from jamaica was the highlights man. he was increasingly leading around halfway through and he ran like so effortlessly towards the finishing line, looking at the audience and hitting his chest like he knew he'd win. and he broke the world record for goodness sake. so damn pro can. amazing too!

and swimming. michael phelps! he got 8 golds pls. and that's only for beijing olympics. another 6 golds, 1 silver and 1 bronze [edit: oh it's 6 golds 2 bronze from yahoo news, i heard wrongly paiseh!] from athens olympics. omg. that explains it all. i was lucky to catch the whole live telecast of that 4x100m relay match just now. his teammates were damn good too. but the limelight was on phelps. clap clap for the other teammates too!
japan's team 2nd swimmer (breaststroke) was damn good too! he overtook all the others during the lap and i think that really made the difference! japan got bronze :)

oh and singapore's gonna get her second medal! at least a silver.

today's first hiphop lesson! it's interesting haha!
the tcher's good yo! super funny and metro.
he says just give it all out when we dance. nobody's gonna care abt whether we look ugly dancing the steps cos everybody looks ugly (to him cos he's seen great great dancers all over the world). HAHA.
i think it's true. so i'm gonna huo chu qu. dont care and dance anyhow! it's fun fun!
the warm-ups are kinda tiring, cos nv exercise regularly :p so i need to practise the warm-ups at home like yanyin says and go run more sia!
and the tcher asked us to go youtube watch mvs of missy elliot, chris brown and i forgot who, and lil mama(?). hmm. heard before the names of the first two but nv listened to their songs before ahah. i'm gonna do my homework. shall temporarily put away my old sappy mvs and random shows. and observe the recommended hiphop mvs :p
exciting!!
oh ya, the tcher says dont use brains to learn/memorise the steps. listen to the music, use your feelings and heart, and dance. so cool isnt it :D

the ice skaters are wayyy cool! thinking back, they are real awesome!

ytday there's this angmoh selling this programme booklet thing at his stall near the entrance/exit area. then he was singing to the background hsm songs.
there are three little angmoh girls who went up his stall and he sang while trying to introduce his stuffs to them.
then one of the girls said: you shld stop singing, so that ppl will visit your stall.
and the three of them walked away.
LOL. kids. and the angmoh was like still smiling away, i guess probably still singing.

HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL ON ICE - FABULOUSSS!!

it was really amazing.
the performers skated like woolala! super sychronised. just like in the movies. plus, it was skating on ice, not on the ground! breathtaking. i like the 'stick to the status quo' and 'we're all in this together' parts. oh and the last part too! when everybody skated, danced. omg. it was seriously good! other songs were also great great of course!
the solo/duet performances were superb too! you shld see how well they skated! the most vivid in my mind was troy's 'bet on it' solo part! omg. the skating skills!
i think the skater sharpay portrayed sharpay damn well! her actions were all there, very distinctive! others were very good too!
and the lighting / sounds were real good! esp the 3-diff-scene-together part in the first act. really loved it! and oh! the props were cool too!
enjoyed the show alot alot! :D

it was worth the storm that i braved through today :p
you know it wasnt really raining cats and dogs when i was out this afternoon.
it was raining elephants! wth. the rain was real heavy.
i dont think using umbrella helped much. i was drenched from head to toe.
and the worst hit was my sneakers. i took them out during my bus journey to try dry them a little but of course, it wasnt successful. and i almost couldnt get my wet feet into my wet sneakers when i was about to alight. it felt kinda gross.
i was meeting for my mom for dinner at bedok 85 market before heading to the expo. so we anyhow bought some slipper from some shop.
anyway, we had dinner after that.
i had my long-time-no-eat pig's stomach soup - my favourite when i was living in bedok :p while my mom ate ba chor mee. we shared ngoh hiang too. damn shiok.

so, main point is,
i had good food plus watched a great show today!
YAY :D

promised jenny i would go back motion smith before sch starts, so went back today.
and it was good to be there again :)
some little changes around but the familiar feel's still there.
went around talking helping abit.
then woooh, work for the day was completed at arnd 12.30pm.
it doesnt happen frequently. so yay we were lucky haha.

then went for lunch with margaret and jenny.
margaret treated us :DD
the wow wow west was like damn large portion.
and nice! damn worth the price.

my stomach was like gonna explode after everything :p
but of course, the whole thing was great! :DD

haha tmr shld be my last day of work at this company.
but the company's seriously short-staffed so i was asked to extend.
so im gonna extend till the week ends. haha.

ytday, as planned, met up with eli and peieng after work.
too bad i havent been able to get to michelle :(
but well, ytday was great!
we lunched at cine, then kboxed there.
great time. first time singing songs with real ease. could pick any songs i like and sing at any volume level :P
peieng's voice, as usual, so damn soft!
and eli's voice is good know!

then walked over to plaza sing for dinner.
eli recommended this indonesian riverside stall at the foodcourt.
the queue was long!
the serving damn huge i like and nice!
ate alot, talked alot and laughed alot.

after that, went to eat mango ice!
damn shiok you know.
it was like 10 plus and shops were either closed or closing already. irritating.
so we headed home.
it's like back to the days all of us taking the same train back.
the east-side story. haha.

hmm last day of may. we're gonna enter the final month of the first half of year 2008. tell me how scary time flies like nobody's business.

today didnt end up good as i had expected. guess it may even be the last time we're meeting up since the last two ended like shit. bet she's damn disappointed in me. i was disappointed too. i've been mean. and i dont think i'll ever be a good friend to her. i'm sorry.

just discovered RUPERT GRINT'S DRIVING LESSONS is gonna be up in cinemas in june! long heard of it but no news in singapore. i've always thought they wouldnt air it here. it was a 2006 movie and has long been aired in other countries. finally -like finally-, after two years, YAY! i'm gonna catch it. hehe.

work's damn bloody sian.
but the job isnt bad and the pay is good.
somehow i just get irritated easily.
esp after the shifting of office to what jalan kilang barat.
so ulu can.
i like travelling to the unknown parts of the west but not like everyday pls. routined somemore.
damn tiring.
and the train fare bus fare. what the shit.

i miss the old office back at tanjong pagar :(

it makes me feel scared.
it's like without you knowing, days, weeks, even months, just fly by like that.

last jap lesson ytday. guess i'll be missing jap lessons loads. the pretty qi zhi sensei, the students, the classroom. i'll be continuing on with the intermediate class i guess.

-L: changes the world bet alot ppl have seen the ad in various mrt stations haha. guess this spinoff's good ar. the last 23(?) days of L. cause L wouldnt be waiting for his death just like that. paiseh, didnt watch the previous 2 movies nor finish watching the anime but heard my bro summarise a little. anyway, i think L's cute. haha. the way he holds things, the way he's so smart and the way he wears his clothes haha. so 有型！ i think the actor starring him looks like hideaki takizawa. in the show only though. and i heard from news quite sometime ago that nanako matsushima was to act in this L movie. but she had to give this movie role up not long after because she had her 2nd baby. a little disappointed cant see her on the big screen but having a baby's a 喜事 of course :] bet her 2 daughters will be very pretty! :DD
haha paiseh, i think i side-tracked quite abit.
-cj7 (3.5 popcorns) i think the head of the cj7 is damn cute. looks abit like chicken little to me. the body i think is weird tho. like cannot match. anyway, think this movie should be a good and touching one tho the ads and trailers look not really appealing. really seems like ALOT of effort is put in the production.
-kung fu dunk (3 popcorns) hmm. it looks a little exaggerating from the trailer. i also don't know but shld be okay.

and what i've watched:
-ah long pte ltd (2.5 popcorns) watched with my relatives on chu yi after the dinner at my cousins' popo's house. they treated us. haha. erm, the movie's funny in the usual way but not really much impact left behind. maybe the song haha.
i've acty promised evelyn the other time to catch it with her but my relatives bought the tickets already. sorry evelyn, we catch other shows ok?

oh man i'm damn lor sor. anyway, treat that im talking crap cause im not very into movies. i dont really know whats good or bad. haha.

RATS! it's HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR! :DD

there are lotsa snacks at home! i'm so happy! this yr's more filled with the cny feel :] later going my cousins' popo's house for a reunion dinner. yay. had one ytday too at 6th uncle's house.

ytday's work was a half-day which i didnt know beforehand. or else i can wear more casually la.
it was the last day of work for the cute malay boy and his poly mate. and also the burp burp permanent staff.
quite sad that the cute malay boy left. he even helped me clear the table before he left. damn nice right. monday no eyecandy to share tables with. no similar aged ppl to talk with. sadded. anyway wish him all the very best.
wish the other two all the best too.
i think there wouldnt be loud burps anymore or that often after the burping guy left. kinda weird somehow. btw it's disgusting but it's like part of the working environment. eeew. haha!

there are quite a few movies up or coming up in cinemas that have good popcorns rating. think i'm gonna catch a few :]
-the diving bell and the butterfly (4 popcorns) to the chinese ppl: sounds familiar right? rmb zhuanglaoshi's hw? haha. it's french. got good comments. it's been released for quite some time and not many cinemas are showing it. i hope i can catch it just in time before it ends. if possible. pls pls.
-sweeney todd: the demon barber of fleet street (4 popcorns) looks bloody. intriguing. and it's got gd comments.
-p.s. i love you (not sure abt the popcorns rating) release date: 14th feb this is adapted from the same-name-book that peieng loves so much! haha. i wanna watch this movie with her! it was said to come out on 27th dec and bluff sia! tts why didnt get to watch with peieng last outing. i'm gonna date her out someday near vday. romantic ar. checked imdb too and it has good comments. tear-jerking

happy 2008!
i know it's a tad late but well, it's still the beginning of the yr :]
and it's my first post in 2008.

okay for a start, i like my job. and i'm really grateful for it :]
buzhibujue, i'm there for four weeks already.
the environment is real good i like :) haha.
the colleagues are okay i guess. very different from the airport aunties and uncles but still are nice ppl :)
there's a cute malay boy who has helped me in learning the ropes. my eyecandy at work haha. but he's leaving soon. so all the best to him :)
the best working day is sat but it only happens once every four saturdays.
half-day tees jeans sportshoes :) productivity increases!
i don't like women's shoes. i once fell (dunno how) and ended like an ultraman on the ground with legs slightly raised. and a few ppl witnessed it. o man super malu.

so fast! december liao.
didn't really like the idea of december coming. but oh well..

shall talk about prom night first. haha.
i think it was a nice one. held in marriott hotel, plus pretty ppl, plus good food.
compared with sec 4 grad night which was held in our sch hall, with student councillors as our waiters and waitresses, obviously this one's better in terms of ambience and qi pai. this one even has waiters and waitresses serving each table and changing new glasses of drinks even when you have not barely drank one-quarter of the drink.
as for the whole thing, i think ny prom still wins. haha.
had a great night. thought it was quite short haha.
btw, ppl were really well dressed up and alot look damn pretty. haha.

i seriously need a job.

first, life's like losing meaning when im not doing anything really constructive.
last time when i was like trying to find time to do nothing which was sort of hard and deemed as time wasting, doing nothing is such an enjoyable thing.
now, when you got quite alot of free time in your hands, doing nothing is quite like a chore. everyday's like passing. and im like jus letting my time fly away.

second, im going broke. im left with 50 bucks for the rest of the mth. o dear.
not that many outings to go but insufficient funds to provide for. sighs.

today - mom's on leave. staying home. haha. (no $ needed :P)

my whole day sucks. started off badly. dunno how it's gonna end but still not feeling v gd.

today is exactly e 4th wk after e 3rd march byg performance. tho feelings like fading away liao :[ which i sort of hate to admit, memories are always there :_] and i still miss e days.

4 wks before today at this time, we were having e tech run for <<5201314>> if im nt wrong. and going to have full run soon... i miss e days sia.

today's sports carnival.
e db was fun. running was tiring and paiseh quite disappointing. e frisbee game our class played was nt bad too. all 3 events our class came in last, but it was funfun. towards e end it's sian tho.
den had lunch with vivien, ava2, mad, huihian, huili :]
but went straight home after tt.
tt explains why im here typing this. hehe.
o ya. saw rachel lim, she rmbered me :] so long nv see her.

and last last sat, one wk after byg, i was writing a post on byg. trying to write down all my feelings before a wk after byg exactly ended. den finished writing and stuff and was writing abt seeing majunwei tt day and e whole thing hanged cuz i pressed an unknown stoopid key of this lap. waited arnd 5 hrs and it still didnt zhen zuo. damn sad la. but i tried recalling and typed in wordpad. tho think alot stuffs are missed out. was like really shi luo tt day :_[

now switch to smth happy ba.
we are having our byg l&s plus ava full outing soon i guess!! we'll be having steamboat dinner at marina south there. yay!!

and this coming wed we'll be having e byg qing gong yan. can see evryone agn!! ava 2 says ava 1 is coming. haha. must come sia. and ava 3. hope he also come la. ava 2 says he dragging both down. alamak. den we can have a full gathering!! tt applies to e full l&s plus ava steamboat outing also i hope :D

xu wei lun's death. shocked e hell out of me. cant link her with death. so young, great future awaiting her. car crash. all gone.

ma jun wei. his right eye. kicked by e horse when he fell while acting some show. 2 mths and he hasnt recovered. news says he's going to be blind in his right eye. will he be able to act agn? damn sad over this.

what's happening? everything's screwed. sucks.

met up with pei, michelle and eli at vivo. but vivo seriously isnt a very gd place to xu jiu. we didnt really talk alot. michelle was like stoning all e way. den we were like walk sit walk sit sit walk sit stand. like so long nv see michelle. since e release of o's? alamak. at least did catch up with pei and eli in sept. haha. so abit sad didnt like really crap alot stuffs :(

anws. my eng is real lousy. i cant pronounce "PROM QUEEN".
i keep pronouncing it as "PRAWN CREAM".
o man. this is like 1000000000000 miles away frm wat it meant. alamak.

den after walking like aimlessly in vivo and harbour centre, me and pei headed bugis for dinner. like hais. this full meeting ended quite fast. den nt very fruitful cuz nv really talk to e others.
but when eating dinner with pei, talked really LOTSA stuffs. frm 8 to like going 10pm. so happy :D hahaha.
and her class rep's like so sucky pls. o man. MALE CHAUVENIST (dunno how to spell. paiseh) PIG. armani exchange. siao da bo. hahaha.
but also gt some nice guys in her class like rolex tt i seriously think pei can consider? :D

pasta mania bugis is a gd place to xu jiu with frens. can talk for so long and real cosy like wat pei says :]
jus tt mb i will nv order e creamy chicken agn man. first time i left so much leftovers in my plate :( so wasted. both e food and $$$. :_(
